PRODUCT QUESTIONS

How does the RescueArch deploy?

The RescueArch by SeeArch can be inflated by pulling the cord with the 'Jerk to Inflate' knob at the bottom of the device. This causes the RescueArch to be inflated using a CO2 gas cartridge. The RescueArch does have an oral inflation tube as backup should you want to inflate it by mouth. For full details of oral inflation, please refer to the answer below.

How long does it take for the RescueArch to fully deploy?

The RescueArch by SeeArch should fully deploy within five seconds of jerking the inflation knob.

Can the RescueArch be inflated orally?

Yes, to orally inflate the RescueArch bladder, locate the red oral inflation tube on the bladder. Remove the dust cap from the end of the oral inflation tube and blow into the long end of the oral inflation tube until the bladder is fully inflated.

Can the RescueArch be deflated?

Yes, to deflate the RescueArch bladder, reverse the oral inflation tube dust cap and insert it into the oral inflation tube valve. The dust cap must be held in place to allow gas to escape. Gently squeeze and roll the bladder until all gas has been expelled. To avoid damage, do not wring or twist the bladder. Put the oral inflation tube dust cap back in its stowed position on the oral inflation tube.

Is the RescueArch reusable?

If the bladder has not been used as a lifting sling, the bladder can be deflated and rearmed, and the bladder be restowed into the pouch. For details, please see the online manual. We do not recommend reuse if the bladder has been used as a lifting sling.

Can the RescueArch help you stay afloat?

The inflated RescueArch bladder provides up to 30 pounds of flotation. The inflated bladder can be laid flat on the water, and the bladder can be used like a pool mattress, which will raise the user partially out of the water.

Can I use it as a PFD?

The RescueArch is not a PFD, we recommend that it be used in conjunction with a certified PFD. The RescueArch is designed to be worn together with a PFD, with the PFD worn around the wearer's chest, and the RescueArch worn lower on the wearer's torso.

How long will I survive in a RescueArch?

Survival time varies dramatically depending on the temperature and conditions of the water, as well as your own condition.

What is the capacity of the RescueArch if it is used as a sling?

The RescueArch bladder has been tested to over 500 pounds without breaking.

How visible is the RescueArch?

The inflated RescueArch bladder is highly visible in the water. It is continuously visible in three-foot waves, even at a distance, and still periodically visible in waves of any height. At a distance, its distinctive triangular shape and bright green colour makes it stand out against the horizon.

When should I use the RescueArch?

We recommend wearing the RescueArch whenever you are on or near the water. At a minimum, you should don the RescueArch whenever you see potentially dangerous weather approaching.

How do I remove grease from my RescueArch?

We would recommend that you use a mild detergent (no bleach) in warm water. Scrub with a medium bristled brush and rinse thoroughly in clean water. *NOTE: Consult the care and maintenance guidelines in the online manual.

How do I remove mildew from my RescueArch?

The best way to remove mildew is to never let it start - prevention is the key. Always store your boating equipment and garments in a dry and well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight, and be sure to avoid stowage in areas that are prone to high humidity or significant temperature fluctuations. You can try the following steps to help neutralize and limit the spread of mildew on the garment:

1. Soak in a solution of 2 cups of salt per gallon of warm water

2. Scrub affected mildew areas

3. Rinse with clean, fresh water

4. Hang to dry in a well ventilated area

5. Once dry, hand wash with an antibacterial soap and warm water

6. Rinse with clean, fresh water

7. Hang to dry in a well ventilated area

8. Store in a dry place out of direct sunlight

Is the RescueArch certified?

The RescueArch is not certified as it is an innovative new product that does not fit into any of the existing marine safety device categories. However, the US Coast Guard states that it may be used as a man-overboard recovery device and as an enhanced person-in-the-water visual detection device.

CO2 & REARMING QUESTIONS

For re-arm instructions, consult the online manual.

How do I safely dispose of CO2 Cylinders?

To safely dispose of the CO2 cylinders, you must ensure that the head of the cylinder has been pierced. Following this the cylinder can be disposed of. Alternatively, the CO2 cylinders are 100% steel and can be recycled- should a recycling program be available.

Will any size CO2 work on your inflatable life jackets?

No they will not. The RescueArch requires a 33g CO2 cylinder. We recommend using the RescueArch Re-Arm Kit, SKU number RA-33-01.

Can I take my CO2 cylinders on a commercial flight?

CO2 cylinders are considered dangerous goods and it is up to the discretion of the airline as to whether CO2 cylinders are allowed on board their aircraft, either as checked luggage or carry-on. We recommend contacting the airline prior to your flight to request information on their policy. An alternative is to remove the CO2 canister from your vest and purchase a replacement at your destination point.
